How-to guides

Task-oriented — a recipe for a specific goal. These assume you've done the Getting started tutorial and just need the steps.

Voice & conversation

• Enable wake-word activation — download a verified phrase and opt into hands-free listening.
• Train a wake word — teach ORBIS a custom wake phrase.
• Choose a speech-to-text backend — Whisper, Parakeet, hosted.
• Choose a voice (TTS) — backend + voice selection.
• Set and manage reminders — by voice + the bell.
• Voice isn't working — troubleshooting.

The orb

• Customize your orb — variant, palette, fine-tuning.
• Create custom orbs — author your own orb in the browser editor and import it.
• Author orbs with an AI agent — drive the editor over WebMCP to build orbs conversationally.

Agents & delegates

• Configure the LLM — choose or switch the brain model.
• Add a delegate — wire up an A2A or OpenAI-compat agent.
• Voice-drive a coding agent — proto, OpenCode, Claude Code, Codex over ACP.

Personalization & memory

• Personalize ORBIS — names, persona voice, verbosity.

Desktop & access

• Use ORBIS from the Dock or menu bar — show, hide, quit.
